You cannot sail in two boats at one time. The expatriates are too patriotic but they have their locations abroad where they stay for economic or civic reasons. It is primarily the right of those who live on the soil of the land where they take part in politics. Dual nationality as was very eloquently argued by the writer gives a way-out to the delinquents to slip out before they are caught.

Saeed Qureshiupright opinionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13934973734013349863noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1664474623650181692.post-39893918454749869832010-07-08T23:56:29.700-07:002010-07-08T23:56:29.700-07:00Though I am not aware whether or not Jinnah had mo...Though I am not aware whether or not Jinnah had more than one nationality,I recall Bhutto gave ip his Indian nationality many years later.
Though MAD, I agree that amassing wealth will not be curtailed by disallowing another nationality, nonetheless, laws of any country must reflect the sanctity of the country's sovereignity. This has not inspired them to dedicate their souls or torsoes to save the sinking ship, or detered them from amassing wealth abroad just in case.

And, could someone please let us know, if Jinnah had more than one nationality?MADhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06830600953088887837noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1664474623650181692.post-28263429160162859332010-07-08T22:43:07.264-07:002010-07-08T22:43:07.264-07:00Nowhere in the world, leaders are allowed dual cit...Nowhere in the world, leaders are allowed dual citizenship which reduces their stakes in the country they purport to lead.
For purpose of discussion,I quote ONLY the US Law:
The official U.S. government policy regarding dual citizenship is found in publications of the Consular Affairs Division of the U.S. Department of State, as follows:

“The concept of dual nationality means that a person is a citizen of two countries at the same time. Each country has its own citizenship laws based on its own policy. Persons may have dual nationality by automatic operation of different laws rather than by choice…

“U.S. law does not mention dual nationality or require a person to choose one citizenship or another. Also, a person who is automatically granted another citizenship does not risk losing U.S. citizenship. However, a person who acquires a foreign citizenship by applying for it may lose U.S. citizenship…

“The U.S. Government recognizes that dual nationality exists but does not encourage it…because of the problems it may cause. Claims of other countries on dual national U.S. citizens may conflict with U.S. law… However, dual nationals owe allegiance to both the United States and the foreign country. They are required to obey the laws of both countries…”

Unfortunately,in Pakistan, the leaders are allowed more than one nationality.
The Constitytion must be amended to refuse this, and any Pakistani wanting to run for Senate/Parliment must FIRST give up his nationality to another country before being allowed to contest.Ibrahimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03727416149096818884noreply@blogger.com
