Historical Perspective on the New History Syllabus

(This is a crosspost from Pak Historian).
There are two sets of history books being taught in our English-medium, primary and secondary schools. One is by Oxford books, written by Peter Moss, and other written by Teresa Crompton and Beatrice Stimpson and published by Danesh. These ‘history’ books have the dubious distinction of misquoting and distorting, history itself, to the detriment of our heritage.
My specific reference is to the portrayal of our Indus valley civilization in these books.
Preamble
In historical perspectives, heritage and culture is ascertained, through the lay of the land, the people and their languages.
Pakistan is a new name yet our history is as old as our civilization and our old script, has been hijacked and is, miscalled “Brahmi” by the Hindu; it is our script that is the father of all scripts in our region.
In the lay of the land, our actual Ghandhara civilization encompassed, from the north, the whole of present sinkiang province of the present China and to our north-east where Tibet and Lhasa lies. The third centre of our old religion, the Buddhist faith. Here it should be remembered, that, today we are staunch Muslims, but, we also should not forget, that, all civilizations have gone through, various phases in the matter of religions. Looking back, a little over thirteen hundred years ago we enter the dying period of our Buddhist past in the order of our chronology, much amended by the west and the zealot Hindu Brahmin, both in cahoots. And our indifferent Muslim historians, inspired by our religion, which in reality time and again reminds us of our past and what had happened to the civilizations when they too lost the faith in a unitary god. i.e. there eventual fate and doom. And the emergence of Islam and the concept of the Muslims. In the west our geographic limit is the present Afghanistan, again a new name coined by the British imperialists (reference: “Treaties and Sanads” by Aitchison various volumes 19th and 20th century publications. Calcutta) a portion of present eastern Iran and the sea below miscalled as the Arabian sea, where as it should be called as the Sindh sea because it is the water from, the watersheds, of western-Tibet & Qara kurram range, that brings the volumes of water ,.hence miscalled Arabian-sea,& should be called Sindh sea. To further qualify my point the term Tibet in the present spellings is fairly new, the actual word is Tah-Butt or the limits of the idol(Buddha) and it always formed part of the old territory of Turkestan. And after the shifting of Buddhist centre from our northern areas to Kotan(Koh-tan) and then lastely to Lhasa, all within the old confines of the Ghandhara as an entity. in the east our boundary was the old western bank of jumna river,in those days jumna fell in the Runn of kutch,in the khatiawar, this river too, comes from the Tibet water shed,as it rumbled past in the north of present Aravali mountains moving westwards & then south to the runn of kutch passing the heart of present Rajestan desert.and this was our old Ghandhara state, From- Baltistan to Baloristan (Chitral areas) from Kashmir to Khyber pass and downward to Kej-wa-Makran & the above-mentioned sea, is our Sind Valley in the present state of Pakistan.
We gave the world three religions, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism.Buddha was born in Kashmir while Jain, ‘the white-robed one’, was born and preached from the salt range and Nanak, of course is a Ravi product in the recent past. The Ravi is one of tributaries of Sind Basin and hence part of Sind valley which starts from Eastern Baltistan, as a river valley with it’s numerous tributaries from north-northeast of Pakistan, including surrounding areas of Kashmir, whose tributaries, also supply water to Indus (Sind) and down to the miscalled, Arabian Sea. As it was and still is Sind River which feeds this sea and hence should have been Sindh sea.
Linguistically we have the Dardic basic grammar, structure and element which is an old Scythian language meaning thereby, that,it is a old Turkish, language. Effecting Kashmiri, Balti, Dardistani, potohari, Hind Kohi (again wrong term as it is the mountains of Indus Kohistan or Sind Kohistan hence it should be “Sind Kohi”) Sareiki, Landha and Jangali, Sindhi (Wichala), Lasi, Lari, Thari and Bar-Rohi.
Dialects Change but the structure and script of mother language is the same (Griegson, Linguistic Survey of India-1891-1921). Not only is the Indus person linguistically a separate entity but ethnically too. Our children should be taught our true history that even Chinese cannot match. We fought the Greeks and Eastern Europeans on their lands. We gave them the concept of a Republic. In those mythical days of west, Balkh was our capital. (Tabri, Tarikh-al-rusul wa Muluk, State University of New York press).
We, the old residents of Indus Valley, have been in the fold of Islam for now almost thirteen hundred years. Like the pride of a race, leads to the invention of some royal progeny, similarly the pride of every Muslim tribe in our Sindh valley has a perpetual inducement to escape from the admission of an idolatrous ancestry; the majority of our old tribes are ethnically and racially apart from others of so-called one-India.
The conversion into Islam resulted in a disownment and erasing of the descent from the pagan past and thus resulted eventually in a loss of the past glory. As the past tied them to the now idolatrous religions, hence a tilt to the Arab ancestry, which unfortunately takes them only thirteen hundred years back to the maximum.
Buddhism, in its dying throes, had lost its force as a way of life and a solution to the riddle of life. It even absorbed the serpent worship and now proclaimed Buddha as a god, whereas he never claimed divinity himself, nor did the other Patriarchs after him, for the next thousand years.
Buddhism lost its spiritual power and had become a monastic, ceremonial religion with the monks chanting away the verses in a monotonous tone and living to the bang of the gong; gone was the aggressive Buddhist who ruled by the sword. It was at this stage that Islam came into the Indus Valley, introduced a new meaning to life and created a new order that lasts to date.
Meanwhile, to our South East, in the land of Somnath/Kathiawar peninsula, now called Gujrat in the 7th century emerged a new class of priests and intellectuals who called themselves Brahmans and created a new religion. These Brahmans went into the psychic insight of a primitive man and fabricated history of their past. They named the areas of the sub-continent as their locations of a false past and conjured legends of gods and goddesses having fierce and terrible powers. They borrowed from the aborigines their darkest myths, their grossest superstitions, their most dreaded and degraded deities. These Brahmans now compounded them into one of the most bewildering system of theology and metaphysics the world has ever known. The terms ‘Nirvana’ and ‘Karma’ were hijacked from older religions and professed as their own.
In the post-Islam period, the indifferent Muslim rulers and scholars bundled Buddhism, Jainism and Brahmanism in one scope of idolatrous religion and took no interest in their record making. The primary reason being that the old Turk, Buddhist in his past, had now become a Muslim and did not want any reference to a heritage that was disowned and, in his mind, best forgotten. Unfortunately, this lapse permitted the Brahman to fill in the void and claim our Indus Valley as his place of Vedic scriptures. The hymns of Rig-Vedas, now being taught in our syllabus, are just a cursory insight into the Hindu religion.
The Ghandhara entity is the past, of the Indus Civilization. Over 500 years ago, the Brahman, to fortify his myths of a glorious past, uprooted the original inhabitants, the Khattars , a clan of Awans and the Dilazakhs. This was achieved in the wake of Akbar and Jehangir’s political design on the behest of the Brahmans who had now achieved the final acme of power i.e. power with out responsibility; hence the axe fell in the late 16th and early 17th century on the old above mentioned races. And so the old custodians were replaced by the new people who even today are clueless of our past heritage. Our Indus Civilization as per these new books of history, preach our end by 1900 BC followed by Vedic invasion. They have swallowed up the whole Buddhist period of thousands of years.
Our universities at Taxila,Harrapa, Bahmanabad, the old “Bahman-nih”. Nih signifies in one of the old Iranian languages “the city of”, gave the world all inventions attributed to India now.
It was one of the Buddhist monks from Taxila University who created the concept of herbal treatment now called by a Sanskrit name ‘Ayur vedic’. We gave the game of chess to the world, as the black and white board of chess is Turkish colors i.e. ‘Kara’ and ‘Ak’. The theories of statecraft now attributed to Chankya Kutilia were a creation of our University at Taxila. We ruled India from Indus,It was the Indus valley which gave the world the color Blue, or ‘Neel’ or Indigo, which is a subject by itself. It was the European planters, who introduced it in Bengal, Oudh, and Madras in 18th and early 19th century. The medicinal properties of ‘Neel’ plant and seed are numerous and thus were a coveted product. Professed medically, as the mother of all remedies, it is a subject on which even the western people have done a lot of research. It was only over 100 years back that, a German Professor ‘Adolf Baeyer’ of Munich, succeeded in making the artificial color blue.
Sind river was called ‘Nilli’ for this reason and the Nilli Bar or the Sutlej belt was a prime Neel, cultivation area. Our pottery and mosaic of blue and white still speaks of our heritage that is now buried in our pagan past.
The Europeans, later, had tried to extract blue out of a plant called ‘woad’. But it was a very weak blue and had to be supplemented by our color to enrich it. It was English who called it ‘Indico’ in the 16th century, which later become Indigo. The very term ‘India’ is basically an extension of word ‘Indus’. Before the discovery of the new sea routes the most prized item of the old international caravans, was our Indigo. To cite just one example of the quantum of quantity produced in our valley, the import of neel by the British East India Company between the years 1664-1694, from the river port of Lahore was 1,241,967 lbs. (Proceedings of East India Company, Years, 1664-1694).
The old scientific, mathematical & mechanical works from our Universities at Taxila, Hurrappa and Bahmanabad are ours, now unfortunately, attributed to the Indians.
We were the republics and, unlike the general perception,we were never a part of a feudal society. We gave these concepts to Greeks and Mr. Ahmad Hassan Dani of Quaid-Azam University, Islamabad, in a review of the book ‘Indus Saga’ [Journal of Central Asia, Vol. xx no 1. July 1997 - p – 193] categorically and very rightly states, that “Guptas, never crossed the Indus”,( which then flowed East of Umar Kot – reference Mehran of Sindh -Raverty).
Incidentally, the Gupta period may be called the golden age of Hind but certainly not ours. It should be noted that Chandra Gupta Maurya [326 BC] is different from Chandar Gupta who is 320 AD, a difference of more than 600 years! The concept that Chundar Gupta Maurya took possession of Taxila with forces of Bihar, Patli Putra, is wrong. In-fact it is the reverse, it was one of our kings who took over Patali Putra with an army of Indus valley. It is only now that this king is called & named Chandra Gupta Maurya by the Indians.
Our past has been Indianised by the clever Indians. According to Hindu records [‘The Geographical Dictionary of Ancient and Medieval India’ by Nundo Lal Dey. 1927-Dehli’ P-151],‘Patali-Putra, now Patna, was built in 480 BC by Sunidha and Vassokore. But this is the time, in their own fabricated chronology, that even the people of Patna, being vassals of the Iranian monarchs, were fighting the Greeks.
The lands East of RIVER JAMANA, always paid us the tribute in gold . The present Indian states’ very antiquity, and her past, has been built on our structures. If you see the history from the spectacles of a Brahman, you see Mahabharata, but remove these spectacles and you see the real world and its history; it is only the Sindh Valley Civilization which stands out and dominates this region.
The question, arises, why is a wrong history being taught in our elementary schools? Are we not unwillingly polluting the mind of our tender youth – by climbing the bandwagon of western education and their funded NGOs who propagate a culture much inferior to us?
We got a breath of fresh air after 1947 but now again,WE, head to the dark ages. Same sinister motives ripped our indigenous educational system apart 150 years ago. Like Urdu now being written on the billboards in the Roman script, in an odd decade we will have newspapers in the Roman script and thus will end the Perso-Arabic script, as was done in Bengal in 1880 AD.Bengali, till then was written in the same script as we write in urdu. We are about to lose our bearings and entity – we are to be stripped of our regional languages, dress and insignia.
Where is the Indus person heading any way and on whose behest? What are our National research and historical institutes doing? What is the Institute of Strategic Studies doing to counter this propaganda?
Sleeping, as usual, in blissful ignorance?
Co-Authoring books, with foreigners, who do not even know us! Or getting books published in India on our entity. Proclaiming themselves champions of Indus and unwittingly propagating the theory of Mahabharata!
May be there is still hope in the old ashes of Indus civilization, which can re-kindle the old fire of the Indus-person? And horses and bulls of Indus will, once again, dominate the land of cow.The oxford book cites various inaccuracies or debatable issues;
Serial Page Narration
1 4 Evolution of man is explained in Darwinian terms.While it perfectly acceptable to mention Darwin’s Theory of Evolution as one of the concepts, it is unacceptable that our children have not been informed that;
1. Darwin’s theory, itself, is not universally accepted due to many faults including the ‘missing link.
2. Being Muslims, we have a different concept whereby, Allah, created Adam and Eve in the present human form
At this young age when the mind is yet not formed the element of doubt thus created causes, chaos and confusion. It should be remembered that these children will remain Muslim to their graves and such speculative theories can be taught to a mature mind much later in life.
2 The customs, dress and insignia, given in the cartoons is all western while we have our own heritage, history and customs
3 13 Images of Hindu gods and goddesses without any sensitivity to either our history or our religion
4 The Book gives a brief Insight of old Tigris, China, Egypt, Greece, Greek Science and it’s influence. The Roman empire, Japan and summary of world events show three periods of China, one of Egypt, four of Greece, and five periods of Rome but not a mention in this periods of our Indus civilization.
5 58 From this page starts the history of Pakistan, the reference to Indus civilization is made now whereas it should have been classed earlier among other ancient civilizations. We are older than the Romans and Greeks who do not go beyond, even by western chronology, 750 BC in case of Romans and the Greeks 1000 BC.
During our Buddhist period we were republics and a free people and the period of our republics is thousands of years earlier then the birth of Romulus the progenitor of Romans. So how can Romans and Greek give us a concept which we had thousands of years earlier? In-fact we as part of Persian Empire ruled Greece, and the actual ‘Rum’ which is now Turkey. The Persian Emperor’s were selected by a body of seven viceroys i.e 1.Baktriana, 2.Aria, 3.Paropamisus, 4.Drangiana, 5.Arakhosia, 6.Margiana and 7.Gadrosia.
The viceroys of numbers 3, 5 and 7 represented the areas till the old eastern limits of the river Indus which was the Granary. We gave the west the concept of good baths, drains, and stores and well planned towns. Strange that it may seem, there is in this book no mention of the grandeur of Persian rule, only a reference to Battle of marathon (490 BC) Battle of Thermopylae (480 BC) Battle of Salamis (480 BC).And of course Alexander. Naturally, it portrays the bravery of Greeks against us- we fought in Greece and Rum and ruled them for centuries, but that period is regarded as mythical. (Double standards) i.e. beyond 550 BC. It is Not Mythical when it comes to Hinduism as will be explained later.
6 62 From here onwards starts the Hindu concept of ‘Pasupati’ a god of Hinduism, shown in the book in our seals and in our civilization and is given four pages with more photographs than matter. There is now also the arrival of Aryans.
Which arrival? Indus Civilization had an earlier arrival of Aryan as shown by our Dardic language structure i.e. which they call also as, Scythian.
7 64 Here our children are shown a photo, of the Hindu deity ‘Vishnu’ and his two wives. Hindu religion is explained along with their caste system.
8 66-67 Now it deals with the Persian empire but only the tail end of Hakamanish period is given which they call Achaemenids, the details of government administration as elaborated in the case of Roman & Greek, is not given while discussing the Persian Empire, Jump in the Hindu beliefs of re-birth and Ashoka’s pillars – (with ref. to Persian design) but Why just Ashoka ? As will be seen it is a build up to P-68 which deals with Alexander of the Greeks, his invasion of India and retreat.
But Indus is not India and never was!!
9 69-73 The Mauryan police state is explained in details, to the extent of a day in the life of a Mauryan Noble. And Mauryan’s are portrayed as Indians. But why do our children have to study and learn their way of life? Do they teach in detail such things in their schools, about Indus Valley?
Ashoka is also glorified in all these pages.
But Ashoka is a fabrication of 1837AD by an Englishman named James Princep; before 1837, there is no Ashoka in history!
10 74-75 Here comes the Greek influence in India. But why repeatedly ‘India? The fact is Alexander never crossed Indus, the boundaries of Persian Empire. According to the book it was out of fear of Magadha State of Bihar, as stated in P-70.
We are teaching our children history of Pakistan, a new name but on very old and strong foundations. Patliputra and Magadha do not fit in as an entity but as vassals.
11 76-77 Deals with various Turk invasions and we are told that ‘we know ‘little’ about the kings in this period. However ‘Guptas’ in 400 AD defeated them from Gujarat (Kathiawar, Surat area).
A mention is made of a Parthian King (Ash-khani dynasty of Iran) Gondophernes, who ruled from Taxila and ‘probably’ became a Christian [If not certain about this conversion, why mention it?] but the Greek culture remained alive hence the author portrays the longevity of the influence of west on us which is in actuality the reverse.
12 78-79 Deals with Kushan’s – who again ruled from Taxila, Indus area &, over our vassals, the petty Indian states till the rise of Sassani (Iranian dynasty). That, Kanishka was a Buddhist and preached Buddhism, he built many shrines of Buddhists one was 200 meter high near Peshawar city. “The king after Kanishka’s death became Hindu “we know little about the time i.e. (After the Kushan empires end).
How interesting!! One became a Christian and the other a Hindu and yet they agree that this may not be true.
So why mention when the element of doubt is there. As in the case of the evolution of ape theory, we see in the child’s mind the element of seed of uncertainty is being planted
And this period is shown in the book as “the Dark age of India” till the rise of Gupta Empire in about 320 AD. Naturally being a Hindu, dark ages had to come but the point is to bring the entity of Hindu, here, in Indus valley.
When Buddhism flourished in Sind Valley till Islam came in 700 AD. Our northern areas even then were Buddhist. Of many Chinese visitors like Fa hain in 400 AD, ‘WU-Kung’ came in 752 AD with an Imperial Chinese court mission to the Kabul Valley. WU-Kung also visited Kashmir, the birthplace of the first Buddha. As a Buddhist monk he lived in Suwat for 28 years. He returned back to china in 783 and wrote his memoirs-(Aurel Stein, On Alexander’s Track to Indus, p-15-16). Even then Buddhism was a declining religion, in our northern areas.
Iranian Emperors were all Turks, but Iranianized and later as Iranians, they fought the inroads of Afrayisabi Turks, who were all Buddhists, from Kashghar, old name Urdu-Kand. The Inroads of Turk has continued till the recent past. They come in the culture of Adoption and rule, and then fight the next wave of Turks. As they did in the Indus valley but becoming part of it they spoke our languages & adopted our dress which is Lungi and Chola and used our script.
The second book of our history course, being taught in our primary schools, like that of Oxford, is Book One by Teresa Crompton and a Beatrice Stimpson, Published by Peak Publishing London U.K.The contents of this book ‘History in focus-1’ are more less on the same theme. The book starts with the roman times, the roman gold coins, the roman script and the roman oil lamps
Serial Page Narration
1 4-5 Our children are told that Romulus and Remus were brought up on the milk of a she wolf. What a mythical story!
And Rome emerged in 750BC. But no mention of the fact that by that time we had been an old civilization, we gave the world many of its marvels of civilization.
2 6-7 Deals with archaeology and its interpretation states ‘The coins discovered at one of our sites by Adam Carter, are of thin and cheap metal’ (remember the gold roman coins which sparkle too) (See photo P-4).
3 10 Deals with counting of years in which Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon him) is named by his first name. The common Muslim practice, and courtesy, of using May peace be upon him is simply ‘neglected’ in the history books of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
4 11 It is Jesus Christ and Chandra Gupta and his image. But Gupta’s never ruled Indus so why the mention here??
5 12-13 In time Chart, in which Indus civilization ceases by 1900 BC. Now starts the Reg Vedic period, by doing so, they have done away with the whole Buddhist period – as it was around this time that the first Buddha born in Kashmir – and 28 other PATRIARCHS’s followed for 1000 years.
6 15 Describes our Sindh river – i.e. It’s source from Himalayas – a name coined by Hindus – which is same as “Himavan’. Now, you enter the Hindu mythology, terms have been coined, and put in the Literature since the 18th century onwards, a slow process but effective, as we see now, as it unfolds. Sindh river relies more on the southern slopes of QaraKurram range than the Himalayas. In all places, the Buddhist Shrines, are called ‘Stupa’, a Sanskrit word ‘ which means ‘a tuft of hair top’ ‘a top of head’ (P-363, Sanskrit-English Dictionary by MacDonell). The actual word is “Vihara’./MARI.
7 21 Again our past is distorted by suggesting that a seal figure of Mohenjodero may be a Hindu God ‘Shiva’
8 22 The authoress, actually acknowledges the blue-glazed pottery of Mohenjodero and a photo of blue & white pottery of Multan but never tells our children that it was our ’Neel’ which created blue patterns.
9 29 Acknowledgment of the discovery of an advanced state in our old cities, fabric of clothing, colours of red, Indigo blue, turmeric yellow, needles and buttons, water proofing of roofs, disposal of waste through earthern ware drainage pipes in central pits – concept of balcony & store rooms. Our women dressed as per figurines of terrocatta, wearing necklaces, belts with clasps of bronze & hair braided – all signs of a high civilization that Hindus say ended in 1900 BC?
10 38-39 It is the Hindu arrival, In the Indus, description of Rig vedas, Kind of vedas and other scriptures, And Hindus, are shown riding horse chariots. And they say horse was not our animal. Now about horses, The ‘Dhani breed’ was famous till the Sikh Period i.e of the Salt range. Then comes the Sanghar breed of Sanghar pass area, northern-D-G Khan. Our breed of Roh-i-sulaman, was the most-sought after as the horse were trained to walk on pebbles from the start and hence they could be used Un-shod, without horse shoes of iron & nails. The British had their horse-runs and depots all over the Present Punjab
11 34 (History of Punjab–1891 by S.M. Latif) It is stated ‘In the Hindu book of Law’ ‘Dham ma podam’ mention of ‘Noble sindh horses’ – In the Ramayana of Hindus, the king of Kai Keyes occupying Ravi- Beas region i.e Harappa had the title of ‘Asvapti’ or ‘the lord of horses’ but our children are not being apprised of such like information. Can the education department answer why? And remember all these above quoted Hindu books are a post Islamic creation but the information is old and extracted from old data of Indus valley books meticulously maintained by our Buddhist monks but now rewritten in Deva-nagari script with new titles and new authors. But then such is the fate of nations who disassociate with their past.
12 39-41-42 Our children are now supposed to memorize passages from Rig veda’s i.e. ‘Hymns to Arms’ etc. My question is has the education department of the Islamic republic of Pakistan checked from their sources that the Hindu children at this stage are memorizing the Quranic para’s?
13 40 Here is shown a photo of Hindu God ‘Indra’, the war god. Why this photo? Is the Hindu impressing us with his martial powers.
14 43 In the Quiz box a question is ‘How many hymns does the Rig veda contain?’ and our Children are supposed to remember Hindu Rig veda’s number of Hymns, And questions like ‘which region is the mahabharat story based in?’(meaning thereby the Sindh valley or the entity of Pakistan) Names of ‘most Important Aryan God?’ How long did Rig vedic period last?(meaning Hinduism was before Bhuddism in the Sindh Valley and the time given to the first Buddha in the new chronology is after 550 B.C) How many wheels did Aryan chariots have?(And of what interest is the number of wheels to our children).
15 49 We are told, we paid nine tons of gold dust to Iran, whereas it was Hindustan’s petty states which paid us the tribute for onward dispatch.
The capital of Kai Luharasp–was Balkh–as quoted by al–Tabri. It was he who sent Nebuchadnezzar against the ‘Jews’. Nebuchadnezzar was the viceroy of Babylon on behalf of shah of Iran. He was succeeded by Bishtasp, also called Gushtasib – It was his grandson, the son of Isfandyar, named Bahman, also called ‘Ard-shir’, who led the army in Hind, as they had failed in tribute, It was Bahman, who founded a city between frontier of Hind and Iran, (In the present sindh province) Bahmanabad earlier mentioned in this article and even In those days the land was populated by Turks, as has been written by Tabri who died 928 AD.
In the book, “The Parsis” [Piloo Nanavuthy, Published by Director National Book Trust, India, New Dehli 1977], The Iranian history is divided into five eras in the time zones: 1. Peshdadi from prehistoric to about 2000 BC when according to them, Zarathushtra was born (first Iranian dynasty ended) around 2000 BC.
2. Kiani dynasty ended 700 BC.
3. Hakamanish dynasty ended 330 BC (Achaemenids).
4. Ash-Khani dynasty ended 226 BC (Turks).
5. Sassani dynasty ended 653 AD.
The Greeks are time and again mentioned, for what they contributed for us through Alexander, in this book for our school children. Our history mentions two Sikandar. One is Sikandar Zulqarnian, classified by our historians as ‘Sikandar-e-Akbar’, to differentiate with this Greek Alexander, who to was called ‘Sikandar –e-Asghar’. It was Sikandar-e-Akbar, regarded as a prophet in our old books, who from east conquered west. In the Genealogy of Turks, he is from the line of Taraj – whose fourth in Line is Sikandar Zulqarnain. (P-870 notes – Tabakat –I- Nasiri by Usman by Maj. H.G. Raverty 1881). The Westerners, removed his name and planted this Greek Alexandar and credited him for all the glories of Sikandar-e-Akbar. As Alexander of Greece was a drunk & a debauchee he could not have been the prophet.
16 52 Some of the questions on the quiz box are, ‘What was the name of old charsadda’? Our young ones are supposed to say ‘pash kalavati’, a Sanskrit word. Charsada is old Hashtghar – or the area of 8 town/ cities of Buddihist Vintage. Ash or Hasht is number ‘eight’. In the mughal Administrative set up which Lasted till 1739 AD, it was a ‘Tuman’ or a district composed of these eight cities extending till river Indus/ sindh to the east till the boundary of Pakhali sarkar and suba Lahore in which Darband now in Hazzara was included.
17 53 Deals with, how ancient Greece influenced the world?
How could it influence as vassals of Iranians?
18 70-71 It is always India which is addressed in the book never Indus.i.e Impact on India, of the Greek culture deals with mauryan period and a map. Which shows 25% of Iran as part of Mauryan Empire?
19 72-73 Deals with splendor of Patili Putra and Kutaliya is mentioned – a man whose work allegedly attributed to him surfaced only in 1904 in mysore in India i.e ‘Arth Shastra’ a book on state craft. A book originally written and taught by our Buddhists at Taxila in the bygone days has been given a Sanskrit title and reproduced as a work of a hindu author, Whereas the time referred to even by their standards and origin of the book is Buddhist and the location is Taxila.
20 75,80 Shows photo’s of Ashoka-map of his empire (P-80) covering Iran 25% Whole of Afghanistan and India including Bangladesh and of course Patali Putra.
The world chronology underwent a change in the last quarter of 18th century. Sir William jones & pandit Radha Kanta along with Gibbons of Decline and fall of Roman empire ‘fame’ were the culprits.
Sir William Jones got the honor of being called father of Indianology-(‘The Panidt, did his job’ Gibbon, ‘got Romans a place in world chronology’) None, challenged this new concept of time. At that time among the Muslims of the most powerful were the Osmanli Turks of the old Rum (Ottomans) but for them it related to the glory of the Iranians their old enemies. Mughal Empire was dead. Our intellectual like now was DEAD. So these not too wise men- got together and wrote and filled in the rescue passages, of lost time with that of their glory.
For the Iranian Muslims, it was the period of parsi- religion, the fire- worshipers, and none of their concern. And parsi the moneymaker did not care less for his past distortions.
21 94-95 The story of Good Greeks coins and our bad coins- continues. Greeks rule again is shown from 150 BC onward. How they built sagala (Sialkot) from Questions of Milinda refers to Menander’s (Greeks Kings) rule. Its shops are filled with many sorts of expensive goods. It is richly decorated with hundreds of items- halls of various kinds and splendid with hundreds of thousands of magnificent and foot passenger. Crowded by man of all sorts, and conditions “Brahimins”, nobles craftsman & Servants.
A wrong representation because, in the projected Greek period, the population of Sagala could not have hundreds of thousands of magnificent mansions as the whole of existing Pakistan in 1854 does not exceed 12.5 million as per census recorded in the records. And this book refers to 150BC!! Just to show that ‘Brahman’ was present then. The whole of Indus valley from tip to toe was Buddhist till Islam come 1300 year back’.
22 101 Due to error on the part of publisher it seems, they attribute some thing good to us for a change. That the origin of ‘Ayur vedic’ again a Sanskrit name or term coined by Hindus that during the rule of Kanishka- a Turk, & a Buddhist at Taxila, a Buddhist monk- named ‘Charaka’ developed a branch of medicine-based on herbal treatment. He also developed a wide range of surgical techniques and wrote an encyclopedia of medicines.
23 102 In the quiz box concerning chapter 7, there are no questions asked on this man, who created a system of herbal medicine. Instead it is 6 questions on Romans and rest on Parthian and Kushan period.
24 103 The Guptas Period starts from P-103 till P-113. Full ten papers devoted to Gupta! They never once ruled over Indus. Our young ones are supposed to memorize the name of all Gupta Kings. In these 10 pages it is the whole Hundu revival period and ‘Shiva’ Hindu god dancing to a tune, (photo) mathematics, science, all attributes to Hindu’s and astronomy.
The best of the best part is that is is written that “No Greco-Roman influence is seen here”.
25 110 Instructs our children to remember that ‘Gandhara art was coppied from Greek and Roman styles”.
“In the Time of Gupta Golden Age, these foreign influences disappeared and now India had a style of art which was truly INDIAN”.
Now, what can you say on that?
The same page states, the greatest single achievement of Indian Sculptor a unique perfection which now spread out of India of Gupta’s to other countries.
Now this was a master piece of Hindu mind. P-III shows photo’s of Hindu God ‘Vishhu’ and the Ajanta cave Sculptor.
26 112- Destruction of Gupta by white Huns P-114/115-deals with rise of &
113 fall of empires. Again come the Greek, Phalanx (Soldiers unit) a Hadrain wall (in UK). What has that to do with us?
27 116 Again Rig veda and it was European Craftsman too, who built Taj
117 Mahal
28 Reference to Romans, till P-121-P-122 last page has a box of Questions. Out of ten asked – all are on Gupta period, Though, chapter 9 was on rise and fall of empires.
The education department has either gone blind or is bewitched by the hindu dancing and jumping girls on the cable.
Something is drastically wrong somewhere.
In the end in all the other three stages books are of both the companies. i.e. oxford and Danesh, the author’s & authoress remain the same.
Justice has not been done to Osmali Turks or Ottomans who ruled for centuries over half of Europe and the Mediterranean sea – was called the sea of Turks filled with crescent flags. Neither to the glory of Muslims when France too was within Muslim empire.
At this stage, one hopes and wishes, that all well read people should stop this systematic destruction of our past links. Unfortunately, our new generations, of whom very few will have the time to go in the Advanced studies, and out of this very few will have the comprehension to understand the truth. And by that time it will be too late.
Whenever the history of this present period will be written, in times to come. This will be the period- when because of our education department’s negligence – the blame of mis-guiding our youth will fall.
We still have time to undo a wrong- we are an entity and a sovereign state- we cannot have a fabricated past of our enemy planted on us.
Conclusions:
It is a sad day for Pakistan that such books on history are being taught. We are destroying our past links and entity- and what all we gave to the world. The governments of the past should have spent time and money to recollect our past. One can now only admire, the perseverance and sole focus of the Hindu mind, as after 800 years they went to Afghanistan, in the 1st Afghan war, and recovered the Sandal wood gates of somanth temple from the tomb of Amir Mehmood of Ghazni, who had uprooted them earlier and taken them to Ghazni, He had broken the idol of Somanath in four pieces- One was buried at the entrance of the great mosque of Ghazni, the second was buried under the gateway of sultans palace and third and fourth were sent to Mecca and Madina respectively, likewise to be buried under the gateways of entrances. Now he is called a raider and a treasure seeker. A raider comes and raids and does a swift exit. He never takes relics of a religion on such a long haul, for onward dispatch? It was leisurely return back form somanath, so it seems!
Whatever stories they cook now, are irrelevant. The purpose of quoting such like history is to awaken the sleeping educationist of our lands, and tell them that ‘the enemy sings sweet songs as a lullaby, yet hones the blades and does not forget his past’
At least we should get our records straight! And NOT fall in a trap of historical distortions as being created.
In the final analysis we must remember that we are a nation and an entity. We must preserve our past records of religion of the by gone days and also present our present religion and beliefs in the books. If the Hindu wheel of rebirth is taught to our children as on P-64 oxford history for Pakistan book one by Peter Moss, then simultaneously the Islamic creation of man and woman and the resurrection on the day of judgment must also be taught which is the cardinal belief of every Muslim and not the ape theory already mentioned in the article in which you just die and it is the end of the everything. To Enlighten a young mind is good but to create the element of doubt is a crime especially in religious matter.
